My Influences: Mom and Dad

Who has influenced me to become the person I am today? Well, that is a good question. A question with multiple answers. I would say I am influenced everyday by many people because I am still in the process of becoming the person I hope to be one day. With that said, I would say the people that influence me most in the world would be my parents.
I will start by explaining why my mom influences me everyday. First off she is a mother of 3 teenagers which is a challenge in itself. My mom is one of my best friends and I most definitely tell everything to her from school to my social life. If anyone were to sit down and have a conversation with her they would be able to agree with me that she contains a characteristic that many people don't, that would be listening. She has taught me that some of the best advice is not necessarily words (which she does has a ton of as well) but a lot of the time what people want most is someone to listen and agree with them. I know that I try my best to do the same and that has contributed to who I am as a person and especially as a friend.
However, what inspires me more than anything else is the job she does besides being a mother. My mom went to law school and worked as a lawyer for many years and then as a consultant in my dad's office. Then she came across the organization 1736 Family Crisis Center. She recognized that they were in need of a position and filled it diving into an unknown setting of work life as well as a job that she does not necessarily have to do, but she does anyways. So I would say that by this action my mom has taught me the importance of always doing more and always making the absolute best of it. I try new things and make the best of everything because of my mom and I am thankful for that. I only hope that someday I could accomplish even half of what my mother has.
As for my dad I would say that he is an amazing man. He started up a law firm with a partner not knowing if success would come but worked extremely hard and he succeeded. He works hard everyday and that is something that has made me who I am with my school work. I know that sometimes starting from scratch and achieving greatness is not something that happens easily and or everyday, but with the trait of determination and hard work given to me by my father, I know that I can do and be something in this world.
I have also learned that in life many people have trouble getting up when they have fallen. That would be expected if you fall from a climb that has taken so long only to land back in square one. But my dad has been there for me even when I don't think I have a there for someone to be. I have taken that and applied it to my life and I know that being a thankful and receptive person to support is essential for brushing dirt off. But even more, that friends, family, and or acquaintances don't realize support is needed. It is easy to keep your head down, stand in the back waiting for when you are called on for assistance, but my dad taught me that the hard stuff is reaching out to someone to show that you care. Doing things for yourself is something that seems to be a pain but in reality is something that if I didn't learn from my dad and mom, I wouldn't know how to give support to people who aren't at a place where asking for it is easy and also that initiative can be hard but it shows maturity that many don't currently obtain at this age.
The final snip-it about my parents that I must share as a direct impact on who I am is there EXTREME amounts of generosity. Since I was of an age that was less than double digits, I was part of philanthropy projects with my family. Now, the idea of giving back is so far implanted in my head that I could not imagine living a life without helping others. And for that I am eternally grateful.
So, I've got the lessons of being a good listener, making the best and adding more to something, hard work, determination, support, self-initiative, and generosity from my parents. I'd say that is pretty much the definition of influential characteristics.

Now taking what I have learned I plan to utilize it, expand upon it, and spread it to others as well. My current effect on the world includes being a hard working student, the best friend and daughter I can be, and a philanthropist through setting up the 1736 club at my high school. I plan to spread through the same influence my parents have set for me which is setting an example.
I know i haven't made my foot print on the world yet, but I will say that I have gotten started. At least with the heal of the foot... the rest is soon to come.

Thank you for reading this very long Blogging By Talia, I hope it was enjoyed and that I have already started spreading what I have learned!
